Christian Life Skills seeks to empower families and youthto live spiritually healthy and productive lives through the practical application of the Word of God by instillin Christian Life Skills, Mentoring, Training, Nurturing, and Networking with churches and community groups.

Christian Life Skills provides a library of matierials that helps children and youth overcome today's most pressing issues and obstacles to success. For details about CLS's 9 Life-Skills curriculum click here.

Christian Life Skills began in 1986, in part as a response to Bill Moyer’s documentary that depicted numerous problems in inner city neighborhoods but said little about the role of churches in addressing such concerns. With the support of a city-wide group of ministers and community leaders, Founder and Director Barbara Rogers launched the vision for CLS that emerged after an extended period of prayer and fasting.

The biblically-based life-skills resources have proven effective across ethnic and racial groups.  They have the flexibility to be used in the home with families, in the church, and in outreach to the community.  Results include improved academics, increased self-esteem, decreased repeat offences, enhanced family well-being, improved self-discipline, and a greater sense of hope and accomplishment, leading to stable employment and higher education for youth and families who had previously known failure and discouragement.

Participants develop the capacity to begin living into their God-given potential and purpose in life, with loving, supportive relationships and various activities in the church and community that motivate them to move away from drugs, teen pregnancy, crime, violence, and school failure, and toward healthy living.
